Samuel Gacon

Samuel Gacon was a trailblazer in the history of Jewish printing in Portugal. He is credited with establishing one of the earliest Hebrew printing presses in the Iberian Peninsula during the late 15th century. Operating in Faro, in the Algarve region, Gacon printed the first known book in Portugal, a Hebrew edition of the Pentateuch (Torah) in 1487.
